British Olympic rower Matthew Langridge took time out from a training camp in South Africa to pick this month's winning Sport in Focus image.
The world championship gold medal winner chose a picture of kickboxing taken by photographer and Maidenhead resident Leisa Houlder.
The kickboxer and his sparring partner were snapped at Blaze Martial Arts in Windsor in December.
Matthew said: "It's a great action shot with a high impact, and I also liked the fact that the black background gives you the feeling that the athlete and his coach are training alone, as if everyone else has left the gym."
Leisa has lived in the town for about 25 years and has been a photographer for five.
The Sport in Focus project, supported by the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust and the Kidwells Trust, aims to celebrate sport through photos.
More than 300 have now been submitted covering 36 different sports.
