Sharp reminder for winter drivers

Drivers are being warned to take extra care during the cold snap after a car spun off the motorway this morning.

The black Renault Clio lost control near J8/9 of the M4 travelling towards Reading and ended up in a ditch.

Firefighters from Maidenhead were called out at 7.20am to help him.

He sustained a cut to his hand but no other injuries.

Crew manager Tom Woolgar said the driver had a 'lucky escape' and was saved from further injury because he was wearing a seatbelt.

He added: "Drivers need to take extra care in icy conditions."

Slough Firefighters were also called out to a three-car crash on the M4 J5 near Langley at 1pm on Saturday.

Two people had to be cut out of vehicles and were taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
