A witness appeal has been made by police after a 28-year-old woman was raped in Braywick Park in broad daylight yesterday.
The victim was walking in the park between about 4pm and 4.30pm yesterday. She talked to a man, who then raped her.
Police have arrested a 24-year-old from Maidenhead on suspicion of rape.
They also believe a dog walker might have been nearby when the attack took place and could have vital information about the incident.
Investigating officer, Det Con Ross Fleming of Force CID in Berkshire, said: “I am appealing to a dog walker who we believe was in the vicinity of Braywick Park at the time, approximately 4pm to 4.30pm yesterday, to come forward. This dog walker might have vital information about the rape and we are therefore extremely keen to talk to them.
“If you were the dog walker, or know who might be, or have any other information relating to this investigation please contact the police immediately. The easiest way to do this is by visiting your nearest police station or by calling 101.
“If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
“I would reassure the local community that we believe this is an isolated incident and we are conducting a thorough investigation to establish what happened. We have arrested a 24-year-old man from Maidenhead on suspicion of rape and he has been released on police bail until September 29, pending further enquiries.”
