A new auction house has opened in Maidenhead, with the first auction planned for January.
Dawson’s Auctioneers opened on the Kings Grove Estate in the first week of December.
Aubrey Dawson, an experienced auctioneer, settled on Maidenhead after searching for months for the right location.
He said: “We had to search for the right building, Maidenhead had close links to London, it’s really connected.
“There is no existing auction house and it’s in an affluent area.
“We want to offer a service; we will offer insurance evaluation, advice for collectors, probate and auctions.
“We want people to make a day out of the auctions, and it should also bring people into the town."
Aubrey Dawson has worked as an auctioneer for the last 17 years, and works as a consultant to auction television shows including Flog It and Dickinson's Real Deal.
Dawson's Auctioneers will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays for an evaluation service, where customers will be able to bring items to be evaluated for free.
There will be a general auction once a month, and six specialist auctions a year.
Aubrey said: “This could include items such as rare books and military.
“We want it to be a welcoming place, with no pressure to bid on anything.
“People can come and have a look and have a cup of tea.
“There’s plenty of free parking on site, and we’ve done up the building, with new carpets, we’ve put in heating and offices.”
The company is accepting items to be sold in the first auction, which will take place on Saturday, January 21.
