VIDEO: Cookham Dean residents to fight for post office

Passionate villagers descended on their post office on Thursday to support the future of the Cookham Dean amenity which is shrouded in uncertainty.
Dozens sprung into action to call for the community base to be saved, as they heard an unsuspecting post office worker vow to help keep the facility running in the village.
"We have every intention to keep a post office presence in Cookham Dean," said Steward Swabey, field change advisor at the post office, who was expecting a one-on-one meeting with the sub-postmaster.
He told the gathering: "We are not trying to close post offices. We are looking to find the best solution for the both the post office and the customers."
Residents were told it is likely that the post office would run as a part-time 'hosted service', as the owner looks to sell the Bigfrith Lane venue, which houses the post office booth.
A number of possible venues for a new location were suggested by the vocal crowd this afternoon and a number of residents agreed to form part of a working group to research it further.
Residents fear the post office could leave the village for good if a new venue is not found quickly.
