VIDEO: Even cats suffer the credit crunch

11:54am Thu 12th Feb 09:: written by Kelly Rawlings

Feline friends are beginning to feel the full force of the credit crunch, according to a cat charity in crisis.

CLAWS (Cat Lovers' Animal Welfare Society) have been inundated with calls to its hotline as owners are feeling the pinch.

They are limited to 30 or 40 cats which are housed at the cattery in Knowl Hill or with volunteer fosterers. Now at saturation point, they are distraught at having to turn cats away and they are eating into their reserves.

The society is calling on people to help out with donations as well as appealing to owners to be sensible and get cats neutered to prevent unwanted litters. CLAWS offers free neutering for cat owners on benefits.

If you can provide a loving home for a cat or want to make a donation to CLAWS call 0118 9341699.
