HEATHROW: Third runway opponents angry at decision delay
9:38am Thu 11th Dec 08:: written by Francis Batt
Opponents of plans to build a third runway at Heathrow have taken heart from the Government's failure to come to a decision.
Transport secretary Geoff Hoon had been expected to make an announcement last week on the results of the consultation into controversial expansion plans.
Instead he admitted this would probably be delayed until the end of January.
As Windsor residents face a longer wait before discovering whether they face even more noisy and disruptive flights overhead, the Royal Borough's council leader David Burbage said: "The Government's plans are in complete disarray.
"They can't meet the air quality limits, they can't solve the noise problems and they've understated the impact of extra traffic on the roads."
