WEBSITE OF THE YEAR: Our team scoops prestigious award

The team that brings you the Advertiser and Express website is celebrating after the site was crowned Website of the Year.

The site, which incorporates the Maidenhead, Twyford and Windsor Advertiser, along with the Slough and Windsor Express series, was named the winner in the prestigious Newspaper Society\'s Weekly Newspaper Awards.

We beat off stiff opposition from other weekly newspaper sites from across the country, including former winners of the award.

The judges said the site \'utilises the latest technology and is a superb revenue generating website.\'
The prize was presented on Thursday night at an awards evening in Leeds.

Internet manager Greg Paine said: "It is very gratifying to receive this recognition from a prestigious organisation such as the Newspaper Society. The site has evolved significantly over the last 12 months and this award confirms that we are moving in the right direction.”

Digital editor Kelly Rawlings added: "We only set up our dedicated web department 18 months ago and since then we have worked hard to create a user-friendly site and build up a loyal core of visitors.
"This award is the icing on the cake - a bit like an early Christmas present!"

Newspaper Society communications director Lynne Anderson said: "This year saw an excellent selection of work submitted for the Weekly Newspaper Awards which drew high praise from the judging panel.
"The awards provide a fantastic opportunity for the innovation and creativity in the industry to be recognsied and rewarded."
