A far-reaching vision designed to regenerate Maidenhead town centre has been unveiled.

The masterplan is the brainchild of the Partnership for the Rejuvenation of Maidenhead (PRoM), a working group of councillors, council officers and key comjunity 'stakeholders' under independent chairman Bob Dulson.

Images of a bustling shopping centre on the triangle site, a larger glass-fronted train station and replacement of the football ground with a piazza area with York Stream running through it, are all included in the vision.

Chairman, Bob Dulson, acknowledged that Maidenhead's future had long been the subject of debate and planning and added: "I think Maidenhead over the years has had more visions than Specsavers and we are conscious of that so you will not find impossible dreams in this but a pragmatic approach with a realistic promise of achievement."

The vision and action plan (VAP) has been drawn up by consultants BDP and DTZ.
It earmarks the town centre triangle, football ground, railway station, waterways and West Street as key areas for redevelopment over the next 20 years.

Now it is being handed over to the public to make comments, with a closing date of Friday, November 14. To view the document, visit www.rbwm.gov.uk or drop by the Town Hall or Library in St Ives Road.
You can submit views to Maidenhead Vision and Action Plan, PRoM, c/o Town Hall, St Ives Road, Maidenhead SL6 1RF or email prom@rbwm.gov.uk
