Traffic concerns put halt on new hotel plans

10:53am Thu 7th Aug 08:: written by Francis Batt

Plans for a new 30 bedroom hotel in Victoria Street, Windsor, have been put on hold over fears that it could add to the town's parking and traffic problems.

Planning members of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead last night rejected an application by Aqua Park Developments to build the lush new hotel, which would boast dining and leisure facilities in the basement, as well as accommodation on three levels.

The principle of a hotel has been accepted.

But councillors agreed with their officers that plans to allow access to the site from Barrack Lane were inadequate and might lead to large vehicles getting 'stuck' and having to reverse into busy Victoria Street

They also feared lack of on-site parking in the plan would pressurise Windsor's already crowded car parks.
