Cliveden Rocks- Saturday Night

9:10am Tue 5th Aug 08:: written by Sally Ellison

Cliveden Rocks really did rock on Saturday night.  Dancing in the grass in front of the stage on a beautiful sunny evening to the best sounds of the sixties was a fantastic experience.

The Swinging Blue Jeans and The Searchers showed why they are still busy touring the world nearly fifty years after they first hit the music scene.

'Hippy Hippy Shake', ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’ and all the other Swinging Blue Jeans hits had the audience dancing, waving and singing in the field.  Band leader Ray had the gift of the gab and mocked the band’s age and hometown of Liverpool.

The Searchers then played ‘Sweets for my Sweet’ and ‘Sugar and Spice’ early on, followed by a run through of their forty plus years of pop music.  Even for those like me who were too young to remember the bands I still recognised the music and bopped ‘till I dropped.

Great venue, great music, great evening – roll on next year.
