WATCH: Canoeists put the waterway to the test

12:52pm Tue 29th Jul 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

Canoeists took to the Maidenhead waterway on Saturday to find out just how navigable the stretch of water is.

After making it from Green Lane along to Bray Marina, the verdict of the group was that it is already possible to canoe your way along and the Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group have high hopes that they will see small boats and vessels along their in the future.

As well as publically exercising their right to navigate the disused waterway, they also studied the depths and condition of the waterway

Richard Davenport of the waterways group said: "It has been disused for 50 or 60 years and it has been neglected. We were delighted to find that the section has sufficient depth for canoes and are very happy with the condition."
