Police chase to rescue woman on railtrack

2:09pm Wed 16th Jul 08:: written by Francis Batt

A dramatic police chase followed after a woman was seen sitting on the railtrack track only 2ft from a live rail at Windsor and Eton Station.

Police were called at 3.20pm on Monday after the woman was spotted  25 yards downline from the platform.

British Transport Police called for assistance from officers at Windsor and the power on the line was turned off.

Officers approached the woman, who was wearing blue jeans and a blue top. She refused to respond when spoken to and ran off along the track.

Following a short chase she was detained under the Mental Health Act and the line reopened after a delay of about a quarter of an hour.
