On-duty parking warden attacked

2:56pm Wed 2nd Jul 08:: written by Nicholas Mayo

A parking warden has been assaulted in Windsor while he carried out his duties.

The man was pushed three times in the chest during the attack at 1.35pm on June 21 outside an estate agent in St Leonard's Road.

Police were called to the scene and described the victim as in his forties, and the offender, who was cautioned for assault without injury, as a male in his twenties.

The parking warden was believed to be taking the man's number plate as he was parked on double yellow lines and waiting to see if he returned within the five minutes allowed.

Colin Rayner, cabinet member for highways, transport and environment, said: "Parking wardens have a very dangerous job to do and this kind of attack will not be tolerated. People should recognise that parking illegally is a crime and the officers are doing an important job."
