Wind turbine plans could be a tall order

A towering wind turbine taller than the prominent M4 landmark in Reading could soon dominate the skyline in Cippenham.
Barratt Southern Counties, wants to install a 95-metre model on the Eton Green development it is currently building near Richards Way - some 10 metres taller than its Green Park rival.
The company says it could power 1,500 homes in Cippenham and Slough and reduce in emissions would be equivalent to taking 1,000 cars off the road.
The application was submitted to Slough Borough Council on Tuesday.
Andy Golding of West Cippenham Tenants and Residents Association said: "Slough isn't the prettiest of skylines anyway and everyone understands the need for sustainable resources. But it would have to be in keeping with the area and the residents it would be affecting."
A public exhibition about the plans is being held at Eton Green Marketing Suite, Richards Way, Cippenham, SL1 5EU on Saturday July 5 between 2pm-6pm, Sunday July 6 between 12pm-5pm and Monday July 7 between 6pm-9pm.

- This is outrageous, we live 0.59 miles from the proposed site of the wind turbine and sub station and we were not consulted about it at all. The proposers "Barretts" have not taken into the consideration the effects this will have on us locals let alone the accident risk from having such a visible structure adjacent to the motorway. This ridiculous application has to be stopped! Kim & Chris Allsebrook 16 Copse Close
