Fire strikes again at Pinewood Studios

3:10pm Fri 6th Jun 08:: written by Luke Cross

Pinewood Studios was the scene of a blaze in the early hours of this morning.

But unlike the huge fire that engulfed the James Bond set in July 2006, this was a small incident which was dealt with swiftly.

Firefighters from Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield were called to the studios in Pinewood Road, Iver Heath, shortly after 2am.

The crews dealt with a small fire on one of the external film sets and were called to another job at 4am.

Andrew Smith, group director of corporate affairs, said: “There was a small fire on one of the external sets of a production in the early hours of this morning. I am pleased to say that no-one was harmed and the systems we have in place meant we were able to detect and respond to the incident rapidly and effectively.
“Our thanks go to the fire service and our home team for handling the situation so well.”

Pinewood is currently at the centre of controversy over plans to build 2,000 homes on its site.
