1:53pm Thu 8th May 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

A man arrested in connection with a gun scare in Cippenham on Tuesday has been admitted to hospital for assessment.

The 42-year-old was deemed unfit to be interviewed by police following his arrest in the early hours of yesterday.
He was taken to hospital where he will be assessed over 72 hours with a view to further detention.

The arrest was in connection with an incident on Tuesday when several residents called police reporting a man wandering around the Bower Way area of Cippenham, armed with what has been described as a small gun.

Det Insp Steve Armstead of Slough CID said: "We have seized a firearm which we believe was involved in the incident which will now be examined as part of our on-going inquiry.
“Clearly, the incident was distressing for those involved and worrying for the wider community of Slough, but I would like to reassure members of the public that a detailed and thorough investigation is well underway.

A 48-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released without charge.
