Put a stop to 'garden grabbing'

9:32am Wed 7th May 08:: written by Luke Cross

Garden grabbing which sees developers building in pockets of land between homes has been slammed by the council and MPs.

Theresa May, MP for Maidenhead, and Adam Afriyie, MP for Windsor, have backed a motion passed by the Royal Borough at the last full council meeting which aims to return powers over local planning decisions to locally elected councillors.

They claim Government housing targets mean local residents and their councils are increasingly powerless to prevent over-development of their neighbourhoods.

Mrs May added that she wants to protect people's 'personal quality of life'.
