Police seek witness to assault

3:02pm Tue 6th May 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

Police want to trace a kind-hearted motorist who stopped to help a teenager who was assaulted in Cox Green on Sunday.

A group of four or five men set upon the teenager in Highfield Road, just before the railway bridge, some time between 1.30am and 1.50am. He was knocked to the ground but was not injured.

Officers want to speak to the driver who stopped and gave the 18-year-old victim a lift home.
PC Katy Cleasby, investigating the incident, said: “The man did not get his details, but I am keen to speak to the motorist as he may have witnessed the assault, or have other information that could assist with my investigation.”

Anyone with information should call PC Cleasby on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
