Honouring St George

12:05pm Wed 23rd Apr 08:: written by Gareth McPherson

Dragons were slayed and patriotism celebrated as toddlers and nursery children got in the mood for St George's Day in Maidenhead.

Nearly 50 children, aged between two and five, had their faces painted and ate scones and jam at Positive Steps Nursery in Cookham Road yesterday.

They also decorated biscuits in white and red, shared stories and played games in celebration of the patriotic day.

Kim Taylor, room leader of the pre-school class, who has been at the nursery for a year, said yesterday that they were having a lot of fun. "We made shields to protect ourselves after we made a dragon in the corner of the classroom," she said.
