Antiques flyer could be clue to burglary

11:37am Thu 29th Jul 10

Investigations into an £85,000 burglary have prompted detectives to appeal to residents who have received a particular flyer through their letterbox.

The plea follows a burglary in Maidenhead on Wednesday last week in which valuable antiques were stolen.

People are being urged to come forward if they received a flyer with details of a man looking for antiques and particularly those in the Winter Hill area.

Investigating officer DC Alex Beever said: "I'm aware that people receive genuine literature through their post and what I don't want to do is cause alarm by this appeal.

"However, I'm really interested in speaking to anyone who has received a specific A4 flyer which has a white background with red and black print on it."

A 53-year-old man from Hove has been arrested in connection with the incident and is on police bail until August 26.

Call police with information on 08458 50550.
