Langley man charged over Luton airport scare

1:51pm Wed 28th Jul 10:: written by Laura Enfield

A man from Langley has been charged following a security alert at London Luton Airport.

Dariusz Tkaczyk, of Hinksey Close, sparked a police and fire investigation after cleaning fluid spilled out from his luggage on Friday morning.

Bedfordshire Police were called to the airport at 7.26am after the liquid was discovered in the baggage area.

A Monarch flight was delayed for more than four hours because of concerns the fluid may have come into contact with baggage due to be loaded onto the flight.

The 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of taking an illegal substance on board a plane.

Tkaczyk appeared at Bedford Magistrates on Saturday, charged with a reckless act likely to endanger an aircraft and was released on police bail.

He is due to appear at Luton Magistrates on September 17 to be committed to crown court.
