Parents' school places revolt

9:52am Thu 11th Mar 10:: written by John Balson

Furious parents are meeting with councillors next week to demand to know why some children have been left without a school place this September.

Last week, horrified parents discovered almost a quarter of children in the Royal Borough had been turned away from their first-choice secondary school and 24 had no place at all.

Angry parents have now united to try and get the council to reverse changes made to its admissions policy which came into force this year.

The parents have enlisted the support of Maidenhead MP Theresa May who said she wil be pressing the council for answers.

"I am absolutely furious and I want answers," said parent Simon Webber.
His daughter Natasha, 11, is due to leave Holy Trinity CofE Primary in Cookham this summer but is without a secondary school place.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm at the Moor Hall, Cookham.
