1. Local heroes stepped away from their usual duties this weekend in aid of a cause close to their hearts.
Slough Firefighters Jon James and Mark Downs were down at B&Q collecting funds for our men and women overseas. The duo who are from White Watch are aiming to raise £20,000 this year, to be split between the Firefighters Charity and Help For Heroes.

2. Dispelling myths and misunderstanding about the Muslim community were discussed on Saturday at an event in Wakeman Road in Bourne End.
Beaconsfield MP Dominic Grieve was among those who gave a talk at the Bourne End Community Centre and the shadow justice secretary spoke about the role that different cultures have to play within English society.
Organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, more than 150 people attended the discussions, which feature topics such as terrorism and the role of women in Muslim society.

3. A snappy idea from school children impressed business leaders on Saturday.
Young Enterprise company Say Cheese put on an eye-catching display in the Nicholsons Centre as part of an annual trade fair.
The pupils from Brigidine School, in Windsor, had set up a stand where shoppers could get their picture taken, which was then used to personalise a variety of products.
It is the first time the shopping centre has hosted the event which also included stands from Charters School, selling friendship bracelets,  Claires Court School selling shoe products and Windsor Boys School selling personalised Rubik's Cubes.

4. Promoting a healthy lifestyle proved a prize-winning idea for Slough pupils, who also took part in the Young Enterprise scheme.
This year's companies were from Slough Grammar School, Baylis Court School, Slough and Eton Cof E School, Hershel Grammar School, Langley Grammar School and St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School.

5. Music and dancing brought some merriment to an old folks lunch on Sunday.
More than 120 people filled the Memorial Hall, Straight Road for the event hosted by Windsor Lions.
Flower displays brightened up the tables and volunteers buzzed around preparing the food and making sure their elderly guests were well attended to.

6. A new dance and drama academy set to open in Charvil this month was unveiled at St Patrick's Hall in Charvil on Saturday.
An open day for prospective pupils and families will be held at Loddon Hall in Twyford on February 21.

7. The future of ancient woodland was unveiled at Burnham Library on Saturday.
Andy Barnard, superintendent of Burnham Beeches, presented the new 10-year management plan at the Windsor Lane venue.
It follows consultation at the end of last year. In the morning there was art activity for children.
