Villagers' concerns over lack of police in Bray

10:42am Wed 3rd Feb 10:: written by Laura Enfield

Village chiefs in Bray say the rural location is suffering because of a lack of police presence.

Local bobby PC Pete John went on long-term sick leave more than four months ago and residents say the two PCSOs are struggling to cope without his expert knowledge.

Problems have flared up recently in The Fisheries and a business in Monkey Island Lane was vandalised three times in a row last week.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the local NAG (Neighbourhood Action Group) on Wednesday last week.
Speaking on Friday, chairman Ken McRae said: "I'm not complaining about the PCSOs but they need more help.  I think they should have got someone in sooner."

He added: "I definitely feel the lack of police presence reflects in the crime statistics."

Parish councillor Chris Graham added: "It's taken too long to solve it in my opinion."

On Tuesday a spokesman for Thames Valley Police said PC Dan Brown would be rejoining the team on Monday and a new officer PC Aaron Fricker would be starting next month.

He said there had been an increase in crime in the area and residents should remain vigilant and contact the neighbourhood team directly about any issues on 0845 8505505.
