Traveller family seeks planning permission to stay on plot

A family of seven from Ireland are seeking permission to carry on living in caravans off Oakley Green Road.
The Royal Borough has now received a formal application from the McCarthy family to remain on the greenbelt land.
The travellers, who arrived about three weeks ago, have applied for permission to site a static and a touring caravan.
The application is yet to be discussed by Bray Parish Council and the Royal Borough.

- Why should planning permission be granted for static caravans when building on greenbelt land is generally not permitted? Are they paying council tax while they are there? There are residential mobile home parks in the area, if they want to remain static and live in a caravan why don't they move into one of those or site their caravans in an existing caravan park?
- Whilst I do not condone this sort of activity going on the council must also understand that planning was tried for for a permanent dwilling some while agoon this land. Is this activity the way forward to achieving this? Or should some consideration have been given to grant permission for a permanent dwelling on infill grounds to avoid this sort of fiasco?
