MP vows to fight on for MIU

MP Theresa May has vowed that she will keep on fighting to keep an MIU at St Mark's Hospital.
She has not welcomed the idea of having several small units at GP surgeries.
The Maidenhead MP has been a leading figure in the Advertiser's Who Cares Wins campaign, which is battling to keep the unit in the town, after it was opened as a trial scheme last year.
But bosses at NHS Berkshire East are still not convinced that the unit should stay, despite the campaign being backed by about 10,000 people.
They say that they need to find a more cost effective method of keeping an MIU in the town, and suggested that having units at some medical practices might be the way forward.
Mrs May said: "I am concerned if there is any suggestion that there they are not going to have a unit at St Mark's Hospital," she said.
The future of the unit will be decided by NHS Berkshire East in January.
