Voting takes place tomorrow for police commissioner election

Polling stations will open at 7am tomorrow for people to cast their votes in the first Thames Valley police and crime commissioner (PCC) election.

There are 69 polling stations across Maidenhead and Windsor, and more in the Slough, Burnham and Twyford areas.

More than 105,000 Royal Borough residents are eligible to vote and 14,000 of them have requested a postal vote, which must be returned by the time the polling stations close at 10pm.

The six candidates contesting the election to become the Thames Valley PCC are:

  • Patience Tayo Awe (Ind)
  • Barry Cooper (UKIP)
  • Geoff Howard (Ind)
  • John Orrell Howson (Lib Dem)
  • Anthony Stansfeld (Con)
  • Tim Starkey (Lab)

The count for the Royal Borough will be held in Maidenhead Town Hall on Friday and the total votes will be fed to the PCC election HQ in Aylesbury.

Counting of postal votes has already started.

The result should be known by late afternoon the same day.
