Theresa May dances at Maidenhead's Diwali celebrations

A vibrant dance display and fashion show were staged at a Diwali festival on Sunday.

Maidenhead MP Theresa May was among the 150 guests at the Hindu Society of Maidenhead's annual event at St Piran’s School in Gringer Hill.

People of all faiths were invited to the free event which also included, prayers, music and a vegetarian meal.

Children acted out the story of Lord Rama and Sita which is at the heart of the Festival of Lights.

Trustee Surinder Arora, said: "There were lots of children this year and the play was well-received.

"I think the children's programme was the strongest part of this year's event."

He added: "We welcome everyone as a way of knocking down barriers between different faith groups and were very happy that Theresa May took part."

Diwali officially falls on Tuesday.
