Paralympic gold medallist Sophie Christiansen has 'Bright Idea'

Paralympic gold medallist equestrian Sophie Christiansen OBE has submitted her own Bright Idea to make the Royal Borough a better place to live.

The Maidenhead resident and former pupil of Charters School in Sunningdale launched the Bright Idea Challenge Prize in July, which invites people to suggest ideas to improve life in the borough.

Sophie's idea is for simpler, checklist-style guidance for adults with a disability who are given a personal budget to organise their own care and support.

She said: "Having control over their personal budget would give residents who are assessed with a care need a lot more control over when and how they get the support they need and who will provide it."

The closing date for adult entries is Monday, September 15, while the date for under-18 entries is Monday, September 22.
