A hairdresser and an IT support worker are organising a fundraising weekend to raise money for the hospital that gave their parents live-saving heart surgery.
On Saturday, August 23, friends Sophie Glover, 24, and Haroon Hussain, 23, are holding an event at the Nicholsons Centre to help reach their £2,000 target for the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity.
As well as face painting, henna, hair styling consultation and advice being on offer from hair stylists at Square Roots Hair Salon on King Street, there will be cakes and cookies available from 9am-5pm.
There will also be a raffle with prizes including skin care products from Lancome, L'Occitane and Yves Saint Laurent, a tattoo session at The Tattoo Rooms, vouchers for Square Roots and Harringtons, and a two-course meal at Bar Sport in King Street.
Bar Sport in King Street will also be hosting a beach party event in the evening to help the pair raise funds.
On the following day, Haroon will be taking the leap in the UK’s highest bungee jump at Bray Lake.
Surgeons at the Royal Brompton Hospital fitted Sophie’s mum Mandie with a mechanical heart valve in 2008.
In the same year Haroon’s father, Mozamal, had triple heart bypass surgery.
