Maidenhead Half Marathon: Competition athletes set for quick race

A strong field of competitive runners are expected to lead the masses at this year's Pharmalink 2014 Maidenhead Half Marathon.

This year's event on September 7 will be part of both the Berkshire County Road Running Championships and the 2014 Association of Running Clubs Half Marathon Championships

Entrants can expect to record a fast time in the race, which has been praised for its flat, two-lap course on the roads from Maidenhead Town Hall in St Ives Road to Cookham and back.

Last year's top male runner was Tim Haughian of Windsor Slough Eton and Hounslow Athletic Club in a time of one hour, 11 minutes and 49 seconds.

The fastest woman was Alex Gounelas of Eton Manor Athletic Club in one hour 20 minutes and 11 seconds.
