Hundreds of balloons released in memory of Kyrece Marshall-Francis

Hundreds of balloons were released in High Wycombe on Saturday in remembrance of Kyrece Marshall-Francis who drowned in the River Thames.

From midday, people started to gather on The Rye just off London Road and after a short moment of silence the blue and white balloons were released into the sky.

Kyrece, 13, had reportedly been enjoying the warm weather with friends before he went missing at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, July 22.

His body was found by a specialist search and rescue on the stretch of river between Bourne End and Marlow at about 8pm.

On Wednesday, hundreds gathered at Great Marlow School, where Kyrece was a pupil to pay tribute.

His friends are raising money for safety equipment including life jackets, buoys and signs of awareness in order to prevent any more fatalities.

So far they have smashed their £2,000 target and have raised just under £6,500.
