The headteacher at Claires Court Junior Boys has waved farewell to the school after 27 years of service.

Jeff Watkins joined Claires Court in 1985 as a senior boys English teacher before making the move across to the junior boys as deputy head in 1988.

Jeff then moved up to the role of headteacher three and a half years ago and has made his mark on the school, establishing it as a force to be reckoned with both in the classroom and on the sports fields.

"I have been completely overwhelmed by the messages, written or personally expressed from parents, past and present, from the boys and the staff, leading up to my retirement," said Jeff.

Justin Spanswick, a well-known figure to current pupils and parents, will take over as headteacher of the junior boys division of the school
