Soroptimists donate inspiring Malala Yousafzai book to YMCA

An inspiring book about a courageous women has been presented to Slough YMCA.

Jackie Paling from Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead's Soroptimist International said: "We presented two copies of 'I am Malala' by MalalaYousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot by the Taliban for going to school.

"Our club started an initiative in March in recognition of International Women's Day and since then has been donating copies of the book to local secondary schools to inspire other young people."

Slough YMCA's chief executive Colin Young accepted the books from Jackie at the Chalvey young person's hostel in Ladbrooke Road on Wednesday, July 9.

Soroptimist International is a leading global women's voluntary organisation with  90,000 members in over 100 countries around the world.
