Family support charity appeal for more volunteers

A charity that helps support families in need is urgently appealing for more volunteers.

Family Friends in Windsor and Maidenhead set up a stand in the Nicholsons Centre on Thursday, January 23 with the hope to encourage members of the public sign-up to help.

As a result a five people put their names down.

Volunteers for Family Friends, who do not need any prior experience, are usually required to spend two hours a week with a family in the area who are going through difficulties.

This could include armed forces families and families experiencing bereavement.

Spokesman for the charity Asma Azid said: "We are supporting 350 local families in the Maidenhead and Windsor area and we need more volunteers to provide practical and emotional support.

"Family Friends in Windsor and Maidenhead has 35 volunteers on their books.Ideally they need between 50 and 60."
