Fewer tickets handed to people parking illegally outside schools in 2013

The number of parking tickets dished out by the Royal Borough for cars illegally parking outside schools in Windsor and Maidenhead fell in 2013.

Parking officers handed out 20 tickets between the start of the year and mid-November for cars breaking parking restrictions outside the area's schools.

The numbers are down from 36 for 2012 and 52 for 2011.

Over the course of 2013, the council received complaints about illegal parking outside 13 schools, down from 17 in 2012.

The council received complaints about parking outside 14 schools in 2011.

The borough also introduced five new parking controlling measures outside schools in 2013.

Those include double yellow lines outside Braywood First School, St Edward's First School, Cookham Rise Primary School and Hilltop First School.

Keep clear signs were also introduced outside Churchmead School in Datchet.

The data was obtained through a Freedom of Information request.
