Ju-jitsu club scoops 10 medals in international competition

A Ju-Jitsu club that trains in Maidenhead and Marlow has scooped 10 medals at a championships in Copenhagen.


Park Lodge Ju-Jitsu Kai, that trains at Pinkneys Green Youth and Community Centre as well as in Marlow and High Wycombe, headed off to Denmark last month for the annual competition hosted by the Danish National Ju-Jitsu Association.

Six competitors from Park Lodge, both teenagers and adults, entered the competition and brought home four gold medals, two silvers and three bronze.

Categories included ground fighting and open hand kata.

Medallists include 25-year-old Gareth Townsend of North Town Road and 14-year-old Monty Wych who lives in Ray Mead Road.

Trainer Holly Hudson said: "The tournament has shown us where our strengths and weaknesses are."
