African folktale Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters was brought to life last week by pupils of All Saints CE Junior School in Maidenhead.
A musical adaptation of the story was written by headteacher Bridget McGregor, with almost 100 pupils taking part in the four consecutive performances, running from Tuesday until Friday.
Deputy headteacher Elizabeth Reddux said: "We had a live band playing and hired proper staging and lighting to create a very special experience for the children.
"We are all exhausted but exhilarated as they have had an experience they will never forget."
