Thames Valley Police has made a new high-level appointment.
Former Slough area commander Chris Shead has been made Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) in charge of operations.
His new role will see him responsible for tasking and resilience, tactical support and operations for both the Thames Valley and Hampshire forces.
He takes over from John Campbell, who will now be Assistant Chief Constable for Crime and Counter Terrorism.
Chris joined the force in 2006, having previously worked for the Metropolitan Police and the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Since 2011 he has been the chief superintendant heading up the joint operations unit for the Thames Valley and Hampshire.
Chris said: "I am delighted to be taking over as ACC operations and I look forward to tackling this new role."
He added: "I am particularly looking forward to working with both Hampshire and Thames Valley forces, which cover a large and diverse area and a number of high-profile operations."
Chris was previously the commander for West Berkshire, and the former Basic Command Unit (BCU) in Berkshire West.
His new role will also see him take on responsibility for policing in Oxfordshire.
Alan Baldwin, who was the acting ACC for Crime and Counter Terrorism, returns to his post in tasking and resilience.
