1. Schoolgirl Poonam Bhattal, 13, dies after Italian ski trip accident

Tributes were paid after schoolgirl Poonam Bhattal, 13, from Langley, died on an Italian school ski trip. The pupil at Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, in Hayes, fell from a chairlift at the Claviere resort and died as she was being rushed to hospital.

2. Wellesley Road shooting: Neighbours describe hearing shots

Frightened neighbours have spoken after shots were fired at a house in Slough in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Police were called to the shooting in Wellesley Road at 3.40am after the shooting which caused damage to the front of the property.

3. Drunk driver who killed horses in crash banned from driving

A drunk driver who ploughed into two horses and drove for 50 yards with one on his roof should have received a tougher sentence according to one of the riders he seriously injured. Hayley Gibbs was riding with daughter Lily, 22, and friend Ian Smeeth, when an Audi A4 smashed into them in Hatchet Lane, Winkfield, on December 8.

4. Man detained after threat to jump off bridge closed M40 for six hours

A man who threatened to jump from an M40 bridge is in police custody for causing a danger to road users. His threats caused huge delays for motorists after a section of the busy motorway was closed for nearly six hours.

5. Dorney Lake re-opened to public but some areas restricted

Dog walkers and cyclists will be able to enjoy Dorney Lake again after it was opened to the public. The Marsh Lane venue has been out-of-bounds since September while work to transform it back to its pre-Olympic Games state went ahead.
