- As i came up past the Old devil Inn (on my left)i saw four cars parked on the oposite side of the road with there hazard lights on. i realised there was something in the road so i slowed down to see what it was. when realising it was a body i pulled over in the layby abit further on down and raised the alerts. I did'nt stop to assist as there was already people pulled over and i had my daughter in the car.I dialed 999 to call an Ambulance and it took them 2min 36sec to get through, and when the
- A tragic accident. My condolences to the family of the poor man. People drive through the village far too fast despite the new speed limit of 40 mph. Knowl Hill is a village divided by the A4, and villagers are trapped indoors because the road is too noisy and dangerous for them to walk around safely. New traffic calming measures must be put in place - at the very least the road needs to be narrowed physically (not just with painted lines) and the pavements widened and protected by barrier
- I'm sorry that I must disagree with WHall. The villagers of Knowl Hill are not "trapped indoors". I walk along the A4 several times each week and never have any trouble crossing the road, at Knowl Hill, or Littlewick Green - usually the road is so quiet in the middle of the day I don't even have to wait for any traffic to come past. I have much more trouble, and find it much more time-consuming crossing Queen Street, Maidenhead. If there is a difficult point for pedestrians to cross the
- I totally agree with Ann. I live on the main A4 in Kiln Green and have done so for the past 21 years. I have never had any trouble getting across the road. The road is open and cars are visible from at least 150m away giving most ample oportunity to cross the A4 to the other side. I give my heartfelt condolences to the young man and his family, however the A4 is a main road and I fear that narrowing the road and implementing barriers would cause more accidents than we currently incur.
- I agree with WHall entirely. This accident happened where the speed limit changes from 40 to 50 on a very dangerous bend at a time when one pavement was unusable due to road works. I have to pull out onto the A4 at this point every day and at times it can be ages before it is safe to do so. It's a nightmare in daylight, so sadly I'm not in the least surprised that there has been an accident there in the dark.
