Shorey in England call up

12:00am Fri 1st Feb 08:: written by Kelly Rawlings

Nicky Shorey is pleased to have been named in Fabio Capello's first England squad, but was naturally disappointed to see teammate Dave Kitson miss out.

Shorey has been included in the initial 30-man party, which will be cut down to 23 tomorrow evening.

Nicky has said he is pleased to be included, but felt for his teammate Kitson.

Shorey said, "I think it's right that Dave has been mentioned in terms of England, given the way he's played and scored goals for us this season.
"He deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the other quality players in the squad."

Nicky  is  keeping his fingers crossed for a place in the final 23 but remains cautious.
He said, "It's great to be in there but of course it's provisional. I hope I get the call and it's nice to be in the manager's thoughts.
"With any new manager, you just have to get your head down and try to play well because it's a great opportunity to represent your country."

We will be catching up with Nicky Shorey later today so click on our site later for a video interview.
