A man was dragged across the ground desperately clinging to his car while a callous thief stole it from his driveway.
The thief turned up at the home in Dunt Lane, Hurst on Thursday claiming he was interested in buying the Audi A3.
When the engine was started the thief got in and drove off, some time between 8.50pm and 9pm.
The 40-year-old car owner was dragged across the driveway, fracturing his left shoulder and right foot. He did not manage to stop the thief.
Police are keen to speak to anyone with information.
Det Con Colin Mccarlie, said: “This was a nasty incident which left the victim needing hospital treatment for some serious injuries."
The suspect is described as white, 25-30 years old, around 5ft 11ins, average build, with short brown hair and a top lip that was distinctively thicker than the bottom lip.
He was wearing a white collared short sleeved T-shirt, which possibly had a Reebok motif across the front, and three quarter length trousers.
