Flood scheme for Cookham gets green light

2:42pm Thu 21st Aug 08:: written by Sonia Kapur

A decision has finally been made about a controversial planning application that has been on the cards in Cookham for as long as five years.
Despite objections from residents in Bourne End, councillors have given the green light to a major flood remediation scheme in Cookham.
The plan, submitted by the Environment Agency, is for a new embankment in Marsh Meadow, The Pound, Cookham.
About 50 people turned up at the Town Hall in Maidenhead last night, where the decision was made.
The Borough’s planning officers had recommended that councillors refuse the application.
But after consulting specialists, this recommendation was changed just hours before the meeting started, to suggest the plans be approved.
