Air club mourns plane crash pilot

5:51pm Wed 20th Aug 08:: written by Daniel Darlington

Grieving friends have paid tribute to a popular young pilot who died in a light aircraft crash.

James Beagley, who worked at West London Aero Club in White Waltham for several years, was on board a twin-engined Cessna 402 when it was involved in a mid-air collision with a solo-piloted plane near Coventry Airport on Sunday morning.

James, known to friends as Jim, had moved away from Maidenhead and was part of a specialist survey company Reconnaissance Ventures Ltd.

He had been carrying out a routine survey for the company and was less than one minute from landing when the crash happened on Sunday.

All four crew - a pilot and three passengers - died when the plane came down in Brandon Woods, near Coombe Abbey, Warwickshire.
A joint investigation has been launched by Warwick shire police, fire and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
