Road rage driver admits attacking man at wheel

1:59pm Wed 20th Aug 08:: written by Terry Pattinson

A van driver from Charvil who leapt from his vehicle and attacked another motorist in a road rage attack has been sentenced.

Slough Magistrates Court heard that Lee Anderson saw red when he was 'hooted' and attacked a driver at the wheel of his car.

Anderson, a 36-year-old businessman and dad-of-three, of Park View Drive North, appeared before the court on Monday and admitted a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The incident happened on March 17 this year in Twyford, when motorist Peter McGilley sounded his horn and Anderson lost his temper, said Ravinder Chodha, prosecuting.

Kate McCutcheon, defending, said Anderson was remorseful and realised that the attack could have an adverse affect on his marriage. She said it was a 'salutary experience' and one he would always regret.

Anderson was sentenced to 160 hours of community service under Probation Service supervision and ordered to pay £350 compensation plus £60 court costs.
