Excitement and tears as A level results announced

Envelopes were torn open and tensions were running high as students across the area received their long-awaited A level results this morning.

For Furze Platt pupil Peter Edwards and Burnham Upper School's Amy Waters there was a double cause to celebrate because they shared results day with their birthday.

Aspiring doctor Peter gained three As and will study medicine.
Birthday girl Amy got a B and two Cs and had a celebration lined up:  "We're going to have a big dinner with friends, family and my boyfriend."

Aspiring Olympian, Ally Brooks was happy with her Bs' in geography and PE and D in pyscology.
The 18-year-old Newlands School pupil has secured a full rowing scholarship to Stanford and is due to jet off on Monday to the US after passing the American SAT entrance exams back in January.

A proud dad, Rod Priest, shed tears of emotion when his twin daughters, Laura and Jemma, saw their A-level results at Slough Grammar School. The girls got three As each. 
Mum Annette said: "I will probably cry later. You can imagine how proud we both feel. The brains run in Rod's family, not mine."

While few of us manage to achieve 100 per cent in our lives, Windsor Boys' School pupil Joe O'Connor managed it when his art and design A-level result came though.
Joe, 18, found that as well as maximum marks in art and design he had also scored grade As in geography and biology.
