Fisher's hopes sunk at USPGA

4:23pm Mon 11th Aug 08:: written by Steve Spencer

Ross Fisher's hopes of a Ryder Cup place are all but over after he endured a torrid time at the USPGA Championship at Oakland Hills in Michigan.

The Ascot golfer was in the top 10 of the European rankings going into the final major of the season, but is now 12th in the list with only a couple of events remaining until the team of 10 players is announced.

Fisher was tied for 113th place at the USPGA, a huge disappointment considering his good run at The Open Championship last month.

A first round of 77 on Thursday followed by 76 on Friday saw the Wentworth pro miss the cut with 13 over par.

Irishman Padraig Harrington won the USPGA with a two shot lead over Spanaird Sergio Garcia.
