In-form James too good

12:00am Sun 6th Jan 08

Stephanie James began 2008 in style with a tremendous victory at the Cliveden Cross Country event.

James led home the Maidenhead Athletic Club (MAC) runners holding off Reading’s Lesley Whiley to win the women’s event in 46 minutes, 52 seconds.

It was a great day for the club with Andy Macaskill leading home the rest of the MAC contingent finishing fourth in a time of 40.28 and Laurence Miles finishing fifth in 40.56.

But it was a strong team performance from MAC, with Mike Trees (42.19), Joe Middleton (44.41), Shea Hindman (46.13), Paul Bradley (46.46), Ian Crabtree (48.16), Greg Marsh (48.54), Jon Kew (48.59), Stuart Mannering (49.01), James Tarrant (49.13), and Susan Blackett (49.35) all performing well.

James continued her great form finishing fourth in the Berkshire Cross Country Champ- ionships.
Elsewhere Mark Hollands finished fourth in the Woodcote 10k, and Jon Kew finished 12th.

Simon Emsley tackled the Box Hill 10k, coming home in 87th place in 1.08.03.
